Ceramic Fiber Modules are prefabricated insulation units made from high-purity ceramic fiber blanket, folded or stacked into module shapes and anchored with stainless steel hardware. These modules are designed to meet the thermal insulation needs of high-temperature industrial equipment, such as furnaces, kilns, and reactors.
Thanks to their flexible structure and pre-designed anchoring systems, ceramic fiber modules offer superior insulation, fast installation, and reduced energy consumption compared to traditional lining materials.
Proper installation is key to ensuring the performance and longevity of ceramic fiber modules. Below are key steps based on Firebird’s installation standards:
Welding Anchors: Accurately mark and weld anchors; control tolerance strictly.
Back-up Layer: Install any necessary backing insulation before placing modules.
Installation Sequence:
Start with the furnace roof, then proceed to walls.
Wall modules should be installed from bottom to top.
Module Orientation: Arrange modules in the same direction side by side.
Compression: Compress each module row after installation; insert compensation blankets as needed.
Joint Treatment: Use fiber blankets at all wall-to-wall and roof-to-wall joints to ensure continuity.
Gap Filling: Fill gaps over 5mm with blanket to prevent thermal bridging.
Surface Finishing: Flatten the surface using a wooden board to maintain module shape.

Ceramic fiber modules are widely used in various high-temperature environments, including:
Steel and non-ferrous metal furnaces (reheating furnaces, annealing furnaces)
Petrochemical and refinery heaters
Ceramic and glass kilns
Cement and lime rotary kilns
Waste incinerators and power boilers
Heat treatment equipment and thermal reactors
Client: Large steel mill in Southeast Asia
Challenge: Improve energy efficiency and reduce downtime in a reheating furnace operating at 1200°C
Solution: Firebird supplied high-density ceramic fiber modules with L-type anchors, installed using rapid side-by-side configuration
Result:
Energy consumption reduced by 17%
Lining installation time reduced by 40%
Furnace maintained uniform heat distribution with improved thermal stability
Q1: What temperatures can ceramic fiber modules withstand?
A1: Depending on the fiber grade, modules can operate continuously at 1000°C to 1350°C.
Q2: Can modules be installed on curved or irregular surfaces?
A2: Yes. Modules can be custom-designed and cut for curved furnace walls, vaults, and complex geometries.
Q3: What is the typical lifespan of a ceramic fiber module?
A3: With proper installation and operating conditions, modules can last 3–5 years or longer.
Q4: Are ceramic fiber modules safe to use?
A4: Firebird’s ceramic fiber products comply with environmental and safety standards. Low bio-persistent fibers are available upon request.
Q5: Can damaged modules be replaced individually?
A5: Yes. Modular design allows for localized maintenance and replacement without disturbing the entire lining.
