Introduction
High density calcium silicate board, primarily based on xonotlite, boasts exceptional heat resistance and is non-wetting with molten aluminum. Its superior machinability enables easy fabrication into complex shapes such as floats, spouts, hot top ring headers etc. These properties make it indispensable in the aluminum industry for ensuring reliable performance and durability in high-temperature applications.

Firebird high density calcium silicate board is made from selected high purity raw material with glass fiber or carbon fiber reinforced. The temperature limit is 1000℃. With fiber reinforced, the material is suitable to be used in high tensile and torsion force application.

The material is not wetted by liquid non-ferrous metal, which is an ideal material in casting application with direct contact with liquid metal.

High Density Calcium Silicate Board can be precision machined into tiny tolerance shapes by our CNC machine.

  • Spacers and Bushes: Used for spacers and bushes in various applications.
Cautions for Drying and Preheating

Due to its susceptibility to moisture absorption during storage and water absorption from joint filling sealants during installation, precautions are necessary to prevent cracking when high density calcium silicate board comes into contact with molten aluminum. Here are recommended steps for drying and preheating:

1. Pre-Drying:
– High density boards are shipped dry from the factory. Prior to use, dry them using an electric furnace, heater, or by placing them in a furnace.
– Ensure drying is done at temperatures below 250℃ to avoid burning away the reinforcing fibers.

2. Preheating Formed Products:
– For products intended for use in holding furnace baths, preheat them at approximately 150℃ before raising the temperature further.
– Gradually increase the temperature at a rate of 25℃ per hour.
– Maintain the temperature at specific points (200℃, 400℃, and 600℃) for 6 to 12 hours at each stage.

These precautions are crucial to maintaining the structural integrity and performance of high density calcium silicate board in high-temperature applications involving molten aluminum.
