Introduction of Glass Furnace Silica Brick

Glass furnace silica bricks are acidic refractory materials primarily composed of tridymite, cristobalite, and a small amount of residual quartz and glass phases. With over 96% silica content, these bricks offer excellent resistance to acid slag erosion.  Glass furnace silica bricks also feature an exceptionally high refractoriness under load, allowing them to maintain stability and resist deformation even at elevated temperatures. This durability contributes significantly to extending the overall service life of refractory materials in glass furnaces.

Features of Glass Furnace Silica Brick
  • Thermal Stability:
Silica bricks exhibit excellent dimensional stability at high temperatures. Their high refractoriness under load and low creep rate characters ensure that the furnace structure remains stable and resistant to deformation at temperatures up to 1600°C, even with temperature fluctuations.
  • Less Pollution:
Composed mainly of SiO₂, silica bricks contribute less pollution to the molten glass. Any potential drops or surface residue from the bricks give less impact on the quality of the molten glass.
  • Chemical Resistance:
Glass furnace silica bricks are highly resistant to chemical attacks. They form a smooth, protective metamorphic layer on the surface when exposed to R₂O gases from the glass batch, reducing erosion rates and enhancing durability.
  • Lightweight:
With a low bulk density, silica bricks contribute to reducing the overall weight of the furnace, improving efficiency and ease of handling.
